Improved starter island, moisture & snow, ponds, Goblin outpost blueprints and more


This update brings to a close all planned major biome and topology changes. Most especially and notably there are now "Points of Interest" marked with totems as well as small ponds, all on the mainland. Although these will require tweaks and improvements over time, the bones are in for me to build on.

List of more significant changes since the last update:

  • Points of Interest (for Goblin outposts and even villages later in development)
  • Ponds (larger bodies of water sources, shape and content to be tweaked and improved later in  development)
  • Completely re-created the algorithms around the starter island to improve it's shape and make it more diverse and interesting
  • Many upgrades to Demo including screen static when out of bounds
  • Many third party libraries updated to be current, game code updated around that where required
  • Improved backend for asset caching to ensure procedurally generated content is shipped with builds.
  • Being in the ocean cools you down
  • Rewrite of the FX and behaviour around HP damage
  • Starter island always in more tropical/warmer climate so we don't start off freezing
  • Biome spread revisited to be more infinite and more organic with extremes (desert/ice) being less likely
  • Snow fall covers the land, rainfall wets the land
  • Goblin (and all future creatures) leave tracks behind them for tracking/hunting/following
  • Regenerated prototype landscape textures to be able to differentiate more easily

That's about it. Work will now migrate to adding crafting materials and non-prototype textures to the starter island so that the Goblin can, again, attempt to survive now that all the foundation work on world-wide biomes is complete.
